A Civil Campaign Against Corruption in Europe
It's time to take back our future. But we must act now.
The European Parliament is the place where our future, which is becoming more and more uncertain, is to be decided.
There is no time to lose if we want to reclaim our future. We must defeat the cancer of corruption and the epidemic of organized crime. Corruption costs to the European economy €120 billion a year, 1% of EU GDP, and more than 3,500 criminal organizations are draining Europe of an additional 4-5%.
Before the European Elections of 2014, we asked candidates from across Europe to join our campaign no matter their origins and their political parties. Once elected they should have created an intergroup with the objective to fight corruption and organized crime.
The request of Restarting the Future for all MEPs are:
1) To promote a European directive on whistleblowing: do not abandon those who have the courage to break the silence surrounding illegal acts that could harm or potentially damage the community. Countries that already have an innovative and effective practice have produced tangible results.
2) To show their commitment to the institutions by the reconstitution of the parliamentary Committee on European organized crime, corruption and money laundering (CRIM), a crucial institution that, if not renewed, would be a gift to crime and its allies.
3) To establish an official European Day of memory and commitment to remembering the innocent victims of organized crime to be held on 21st March because where there is no memory, there is no future
Do not miss the opportunity to fight corruption in Europe.
